The Manufacturing Institute, the nonprofit workforce development and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers, hosted the 2023 national Manufacturing Day kickoff celebration last week at River Parishes Community College – Gonzales Campus, reports Pelican Post News.
The event was made possible by support from BASF and aimed to promote careers in manufacturing by encouraging youth to embrace opportunities within the sector. During the event, 550 local eighth-graders explored manufacturing careers and training programs, firsthand, at RPCC.
“At BASF, we understand that showcasing manufacturing opportunities to middle school children in meaningful ways can foster a lifelong passion around STEM careers,” says Jerry Lebold, senior vice president and general manager of BASF Geismar. “Our hope is that building an interest in STEM careers today helps create sustainable solutions for the future.” Read more.
