Unemployment claims in Louisiana have ticked upward since the beginning of December, following several consecutive months of record-low jobless rates, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
New filings have been up and down over the past few months, peaking at 2,100 claims for the week of Jan. 14. However, continued claims are creeping higher, The Daily Advertiser reports.
The construction industry had the most continued unemployment claims last week with 1,409, which is around 12.6% of all the continued claims. Read the full story.
