Consumer Energy Alliance President David Holt and David Wasserman of The Cook Report will be among the experts speaking at the Southern Energy Conference, co-hosted by the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association and the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association.

The two-day event in Lafayette offers opportunities to network with state and national oil and gas industry representatives, and gain insight into the ever-changing oil and gas market within Louisiana. Gubernatorial candidates will also address a forum. Sessions led by industry experts will provide essential industry, accounting, tax and regulatory updates that directly impact your business. The legal community, landmen, engineers and surveyors can also earn continuing education credit hours.

David Holt

Holt will offer perspectives on national energy policy discussions and the need for local engagement. The Consumer Energy Alliance is a trade association that focuses on expanding the dialogue between the energy sector and the rest of the economy. Holt has almost 30 years of experience working for state and federal agencies and Congress, and directing outreach and advocacy efforts. He founded and is a managing partner in what became HBW Resources, which implements and manages expansive energy-specific advocacy campaigns. Prior to joining the CEA in 2006, David served as vice president of government affairs for Hart Energy Services.

David Wasserman

Wasserman will provide analyses of presidential, Senate, House, and gubernatorial races. He is the U.S. House editor and senior election analyst for the non-partisan Cook Political Report, where he is responsible for analyzing the current political environment. Wasserman served as an analyst for the NBC News Election Night Decision Desk in 2016, 2012, and 2008 and has appeared on NBC Nightly News, ABC World News, C-SPAN Washington Journal, CNN, and NPR. Prior to joining Cook Political Report in 2007, David served as House Editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball,  a political analysis newsletter and website.

The Southern Energy Conference is scheduled for Sept. 17-18 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Lafayette.
