The Port of Greater Baton Rouge brought in $20,481,955 in operating revenue in 2023, slightly less than the $20,652,943 it accrued in 2022.
The port handled 12,845,224 net tons of cargo in 2023, down from the 14,671,606 net tons it handled in 2022 but up significantly from the 4,263,425 net tons it handled a decade ago in 2013. The port’s tonnage handled peaked in 2021 at 15,864,370 net tons.
Grön Fuels, a subsidiary of Fidelis New Energy LLC, is planning to build a $9.2 billion renewable fuels facility at the port. The facility is expected to begin production in 2025.
