Conservatives for Clean Energy, an organization with a stated goal of advocating for continued investments in renewable energy across the Southeast, has launched in Louisiana.
The advocacy group is currently active in five other states: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. CCE is a partner of the Conservative Energy Network, a 26-state network of clean energy advocacy groups.
CCE’s Louisiana chapter will be helmed by Will Hardy, a Louisiana native and “lifelong conservative,” according to a statement. Hardy currently works as a marketing and special projects director for Baton Rouge-based Southern Strategy Group.
“[Louisiana’s] rich energy makeup paired with its industrial impact make it a logical addition to our efforts,” a statement from CCE President and CEO Mark Fleming reads. “We look forward to educating Louisianans about the economic benefits of renewables as we join forces with conservative leaders to help Louisiana reach its full clean energy potential.”
State Sen. Bob Hensgens, R-Abbeville, who chairs the Louisiana Senate’s Natural Resources Committee, welcomes the group to the state.
“I’m aligned with anything that helps Louisiana use its resources responsibly and foster energy independence,” Hensgens says. “This group wants that, and I’m excited they’ll be educating our state on how much Louisiana stands to gain from new energy projects that boost our economy.”
The priority issues of CCE’s Louisiana chapter, according to its website, will be carbon capture, utilization and storage; clean hydrogen; and offshore wind.
