Turbine service provider EthosEnergy is now running complete operations and maintenance at a cogeneration plant for oil and gas giant ExxonMobil.
The division of Wood Group PLC announced it has a five-year contract with ExxonMobil to run the plant in Baton Rouge. The combined cycle cogeneration facility supplies power and steam to ExxonMobil’s adjacent refining and chemicals complex. Entergy ended its contract with ExxonMobil in May.
“Our focus on a collaborative transition strategy, people, quality and physical asset strategy were key factors in ExxonMobil selecting EthosEnergy,” Charlie Hoock, senior vice president of O&M for EthosEnergy, said in a statement. “We will employ around 80 local workers as well as provide support from our corporate offices in Alpharetta (Georgia) and Houston.”
The Louisiana station consists of gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, conventional boilers and steam turbines providing power and steam generation. It produces the electricity equivalent of powering more than 61,000 homes.
“We look forward to collaborating with EthosEnergy as a valued operator ensuring safe, reliable energy to fuel our refining and chemicals operations,” Gloria Moncada, ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge refinery manager, said in a statement. “These cogeneration facilities provide electricity and steam to support our 2,000 acre integrated complex, with electricity equivalent to powering over 61,000 homes.”
EthosEnergy was created in May 2014 after John Wood Group PLC and Siemens AG formed the joint venture. It included Wood Group GLS’ maintenance and power solutions business and Siemens’ TurboCare unit.
