Lockport-based Bollinger Shipyards, the largest privately owned shipbuilder in the U.S., on Sunday announced it has agreed to acquire VT Halter Marine Inc. and ST Engineering Halter Marine Offshore, which design, construct and repair vessels for government and commercial customers.
The transaction expands Bollinger’s construction and repair capacity and capabilities to better serve its key defense and commercial customers, the company says in a news release. The acquisition includes 378 acres comprising two shipyards in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and two dormant yards north of Pascagoula.
