Brazilian mining company Vale announced this week that it will develop an industrial-scale briquette plant at an undisclosed location between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, reports Steel Times.
The project will result in the industrial-scale production of Vale’s innovative iron ore briquette, customized for the direct reduced iron (DRI) route. The plant’s intended capacity is 1.5 million tons per year, with the potential to expand.
In the first phase, more than $3.8 million will be applied to conduct engineering studies and community engagement throughout 2025. Read more.
