The Lake Area Industry Alliance and Southwest Louisiana Women in Industry are partnering to give scholarships to young women interested in STEM fields, reports KPLC News.
The two organizations began planning the scholarship program during a STEM forum earlier this year. “We brought in 65 students, female students, juniors and seniors in high school from Calcasieu and Cameron parishes,” says Stephanie Huck of SWLA Women in Industry. “We had over 100 volunteers and 50 subject matter experts come in from local industries to share their experiences.” Read more.
