Economic development agency Greater New Orleans Inc. (GNO Inc.) has launched a new initiative aimed at stimulating the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ecosystem in southeast Louisiana, reports Silicon Bayou News.
Michael Hecht, president & CEO of GNO Inc., says the Greater New Orleans Region One Center of STEM (GNOrocs) will be part of the state’s regional network of STEM centers and will help increase STEM education, participation, and advancement. GNO, Inc. has brought on Daphne Barnes as the new STEM director to oversee GNOrocs.
In addition to creating STEM programs, facilitating various partnerships, and compiling resources, GNOrocs is also on a mission to close the opportunity gap for underserved and underrepresented populations. GNOrocs, along with the other STEM centers, will build awareness and create a strong ecosystem that showcases Louisiana as the go-to state for STEM talent. Read the entire story.
