Cheniere Energy is the first company to step up and donate to the Louisiana Community and Technical College System Response and Recovery Fund.
Cheniere contributed $10,000 to assist LCTCS students who are on the verge of suspending their educational pursuits when financial emergencies arise.
“We are pleased to contribute to LCTCS’s Response and Recovery Fund,” said Jane Uebe, Director of Training at Cheniere Energy. “We’re proud our contribution can help students through this difficult time.”
During the COVID-19 crisis, LCTCS leadership, faculty, and staff have balanced transitioning instruction to an online environment, supporting their local communities in a time of need, and remaining committed to its mission of building Louisiana’s workforce. However, COVID-19 presents challenges for students to remain focused on school.
LCTCS System President Dr. Monty Sullivan acknowledges these challenges, and is encouraging everyone to play a role in recovery efforts.
“LCTCS recognizes the issues that are impacting our students’ ability to proceed with their education,” said Sullivan. “The objective of the LCTCS Response and Recovery Fund is to help students who are in need and decrease the number of students who stop attending or withdraw from school due to a lack of funds to cover food, shelter, utilities, childcare, and other financial responsibilities. It also helps our colleges provide the technology and equipment needed to continue to teach students online during times of crisis.”
